Regular Season Round 5: Groningen - Leiden 80-42

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Leiden (4-1) on the court of leader Groningen on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Groningen 80-42. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Leiden. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Leiden managed to win second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Leiden to just 3 points in third quarter. Groningen (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row, which they share with Zwolle. Leiden at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. Groningen is looking forward to face league's second-placed Zwolle on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leiden will play against Amsterdam and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
