Regular Season Round 7: Avenida - Ferrol 87-63
Date: October 29, 2016
Very expected game in Salamanca where 7th ranked Universitario de Ferrol (3-4) was rolled over by third ranked Perfumerias Avenida (6-1) 87-63 on Saturday. The game without a history. Perfumerias Avenida led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Perfumerias Avenida forced 21 Universitario de Ferrol turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Universitario de Ferrol's players. It was a great evening for American guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 4 steals. Serbian-Hungarian forward Tijana Krivacevic (196-90) helped adding 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the losing side forward Maria Perez Araujo (182-97) responded with 8 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Ana Suarez (170-87) scored 16 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Gernika. Loser Universitario de Ferrol keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Cadi La Seu and Campus Promete. Perfumerias Avenida will meet at home Al-Qazeres (#6) in the next round. Universitario de Ferrol will play against Al-Qazeres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
