Regular Season Round 5: Estudiantes - Distrito Olimpico 67-69

The most exciting game of round 5 in the LF2 took place in Madrid. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (2-3) to second ranked Distrito Olimpico (4-1) 69-67 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ASEFA Estudiantes won third quarter 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded ASEFA Estudiantes 44-27 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) who scored 18 points and 7 rebounds. Dominican guard Yohanna Morton (172-87, college: Robert Morris) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Distrito Olimpico players scored in double figures. Distrito Olimpico's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Latvia power forward Linda Rubene (189-91, college: Indiana) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Clara Rodriguez (184-96) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Distrito Olimpico maintains second place in Group B with 4-1 record behind leader Rivas Promete, which they share with Leganes. ASEFA Estudiantes lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. They share it with Promete. Distrito Olimpico is looking forward to face Adareva (#6) in SC Laguna in the next round. ASEFA Estudiantes will play on the road against IF Air Europa (#7) in S'Arenal and is hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
