Regular Season Round 7: Gran Canaria - Cadi La Seu 52-76
Date: October 29, 2016
Bottom-ranked Gran Canaria (0-7) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 76-52 loss to ninth ranked Cadi La Seu (3-4) in Las Palmas. The game without a history. Cadi La Seu led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Gran Canaria to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Cadi La Seu had a 28-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of center Georgina Bahi (190-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 5 rebounds. German point guard Svenja Brunckhorst (179-91) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (183-97) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and Czech forward Michaela Stejskalova (186-87) added 16 points in the effort for Gran Canaria. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Cadi La Seu moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Ferrol and Campus Promete. Gran Canaria lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Cadi La Seu will play against Zamarat (#12) in Zamora in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Gipuzkoa UPV in San Sebastian and hopes to get finally their first victory.
