Regular Season Round 9: Amazone - Grasshoppers 38-78

Bottom-ranked Amazone (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 78-38 loss to fourth ranked Grasshoppers (4-2) in Utrecht. They held Amazone to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Point guard Mia Hordijk (166-0) nailed 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and Noortje Driessen (178-99) accounted for 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Grasshoppers players scored in double figures. Grasshoppers' coach Rick Driessen felt very confident using 10 players saving starting five for next games. Danielle Pruijs (184-97) came up with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Austria forward Camilla Neumann (181-94) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Amazone in the defeat. Grasshoppers moved-up to third place. Amazone lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Grasshoppers' next round opponent will be Rotterdam (#7) on the road. Amazone will play against Den Helder in Den Helder and hopes to get finally their first victory.
