Regular Season Round 6: Baerum Basket - Nidaros Jets 99-76

Everything could happen in Bekkestua at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Baerum Basket and 5th ranked Nidaros Jets had identical 4-3 record. This time Baerum Basket used a home court advantage and crushed the opponent from Tromdheim 99-76 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Baerum Basket. Nidaros Jets was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baerum Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Nidaros Jets' 44. Baerum Basket forced 25 Nidaros Jets turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Nidaros Jets' players. Nigeria-American forward Joseph Nwabuzor (192-85, college: Acadia) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Stian Mjos (183-89) chipped in 26 points and 5 assists during the contest. Baerum Basket had such big advantage that coach Matthias Eckhoff felt comfortable to give the chance to play for 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was forward Jakob Baiden (194-93) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Christian Dischington (188-99) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Baerum Basket (5-3) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Nidaros Jets lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. Baerum Basket will face league's second-placed Froya Basket in Laksevag in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Nidaros Jets will play at home against Centrum and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
