Regular Season Round 6: Unicaja - Baskonia 82-72

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Baskonia (4-2) against eighth ranked Unicaja Malaga (4-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Baskonia was defeated by Unicaja Malaga in Malaga 82-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Baskonia. The game was mostly controlled by Unicaja Malaga. Baskonia managed to win third quarter 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Unicaja Malaga looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jamar Smith (191-87, college: S.Indiana, agency: Inception Sports) who scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. The other American import point guard Kyle Fogg (190-90, college: Arizona) chipped in 19 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Slovenia guard Jaka Blazic (196-90) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and German center Johannes Voigtmann (210-92) added 6 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Four Baskonia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Unicaja Malaga have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Baskonia and Dominion BB. Unicaja Malaga will meet Joventut (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Baskonia will play against La ICL Manresa (#14) and hope to secure a win.
