Regular Season Round 6: Menorca - Sant Nicolau 72-68

Very expected game in Mahon where 11th ranked Sant Nicolau (1-4) was defeated by fourth ranked Menorca (4-1) 72-68 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sant Nicolau was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 17-11 charge of Menorca, which allowed them to win the game. Menorca outrebounded Sant Nicolau 38-19 including a 15-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Angel Piedra (204-80) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Jorge Jimenez (182-81) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Albert Ortega (187-90) who recorded 16 points and center Larry Ewulu (197-92) added 13 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Menorca moved-up to second place in Group C-A. Loser Sant Nicolau dropped to the twelfth position with four games lost. Menorca will face Arenys (#3) in Arenys del Mar in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sant Nicolau will play at home against Olivar (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
