Rather predictable result when third ranked Espoo United (4-2) beat at home 7th ranked HBA-Marsky (2-4) 81-65 on Sunday. The game without a history. Espoo United led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding HBA-Marsky to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded HBA-Marsky 52-34 including a 37-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Lassi Nikkarinen (184-97) produced 13 points and 5 assists and point guard Edon Maxhuni (183-98) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains third place in Division with 4-2 record behind leader PuHu Juniorit. Loser HBA-Marsky dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. Espoo United will face Forssan Koripojat (#5) at home in the next round. HBA-Marsky will play against the league's second-placed Lahti and hope to win that game.
