Regular Season Round 5: Jyvaskyla BA - Porvoon Tarmo 73-88

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Porvoon Tarmo (3-4) defeated on the road 6th ranked Jyvaskyla BA (2-3) 88-73 on Sunday. The game without a history. Porvoon Tarmo led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Porvoon Tarmo forced 23 Jyvaskyla BA turnovers. Jyvaskyla BA was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Levi Giese (206-90, college: Lafayette) who had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. His fellow American import forward B.J. Cardarelli (203, college: S.New Hampshire, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. Giese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Samuli Oja (194-93) produced 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Valtteri Leppanen added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Jyvaskyla BA's coach Juuso Konttinen rotated eleven players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Porvoon Tarmo moved-up to sixth place in Division. Newly promoted Jyvaskyla BA dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Porvoon Tarmo will face Pyrinto II (#10) in Tampere in the next round.
