There was a minor upset when higher ranked Openjobmetis VA (2-3) was smashed by fourteenth ranked The Flexx PT (2-3) in Pistoia 97-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. The Flexx PT led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Openjobmetis VA's 28. The Flexx PT forced 19 Openjobmetis VA turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international forward Eric Lombardi (200-93) nailed 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and American guard Corey Hawkins (190-91, college: Cal-Davis) accounted for 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Five The Flexx PT players scored in double figures. The former international point guard Daniele Cavaliero (188-84) came up with 15 points and American forward Norvel Pelle (208-93, college: Iona) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Openjobmetis VA in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The Flexx PT moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Openjobmetis VA. The Flexx PT will meet at home higher ranked Banco di Srd (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Openjobmetis VA will play against Scandone AV and hope to secure a win.
