The game in Zacatecas supposed to be also quite interesting. Seventh ranked Garzas (2-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Barreteros (1-5). Garzas smashed Barreteros 83-61 on Sunday. Garzas made 19-of-20 free shots (95.0 percent) during the game. Garzas outrebounded Barreteros 52-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Cardell Johnson (177-83, college: UAB) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton, agency: Interperformances) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 15 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Garzas moved-up to sixth place. Barreteros lost fifth consecutive game. Barreteros at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. Garzas will face higher ranked Toros (#3) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Barreteros will play on the road against Ciudad (#8) in Ciudad Juarez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
