The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Real Madrid as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Real Madrid smashed 10th ranked CAI Zaragoza at home 94-68. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Real Madrid looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by CAI Zaragoza's players. The former international Felipe Reyes (204-80) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St.) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was German forward Robin Benzing (208-89) with 23 points and Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Five Real Madrid and four CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. CAI Zaragoza at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with four games lost. They share the position with UCAM Murcia and Gran Canaria. CAI Zaragoza will play next round against Blusens Monbus trying to get back on the winning streak. Real Madrid will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked FC Barcelona on the road.
