Regular Season Round 12: Hokkaido L. - Sendai 89ers 84-69

There was a small surprise in Saporro where fifth ranked Hokkaido L. (4-8) defeated 3rd ranked Sendai 89ers (6-6) 84-69 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Hokkaido L.. Sendai 89ers was better in third quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Sendai 89ers 42-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. Sendai 89ers were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Daniel Miller (211-91, college: Georgia Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) who added 19 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) with 20 points and American forward Dion Wright (201-93, college: St.Bonaventure) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Hokkaido L. maintains fifth position with 4-8 record, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the third place with six games lost. Hokkaido L. will face league's leader Tochigi Brex on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sendai 89ers will play against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
