Regular Season Round 12: Shiga L-Stars - Ryukyu GK 76-60

There was a minor upset when 3rd ranked Ryukyu GK (7-5) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (2-10) 76-60 on Monday. The game without a history. Shiga L-Stars led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ryukyu GK to just 7 points in third quarter. Shiga L-Stars dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Ryukyu GK's 22. They outrebounded Ryukyu GK 52-29 including a 41-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds and swingman Daichi Tanaka (183-89) who added 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) with 13 points and his fellow American import Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. Ryukyu GK's coach Tsutomu Isa rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Shiga L-Stars maintains sixth position with 2-10 record, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Ryukyu GK keeps the third place with five games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ryukyu GK will play at home against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
