Regular Season Round 4: Zadar - KK Split 84-89

KK Zadar (3-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked KK Split (3-1) 89-84. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of KK Zadar. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-84. KK Split made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 KK Zadar turnovers. Strangely KK Zadar outrebounded KK Split 35-19 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Point guard Goran Filipovic (180-96) fired 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Mislav Brzoja (198-94, college: Evansville, agency: Octagon Europe) produced 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Lovro Mazalin (204-97, agency: BeoBasket) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four KK Split and five KK Zadar players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. KK Split moved-up to second place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated KK Zadar. KK Split will meet at home H.Analitica (#13) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. KK Zadar will play against Jolly (#8) in Sibenik and hope to secure a win.
