Date: November 1, 2016
Hasharon can celebrate their first win this season after three consecutive losses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Hapoel Afula (2-2) on the road game in Afula 92-77 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 15 points. Hapoel Afula was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) fired a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The other American import Storm Warren (201-88, college: LSU, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and point guard Ron Sabag (182-90) added 18 points and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) respectively for lost side. Four Hasharon and five Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Hasharon (1-3) left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Hapoel Afula dropped to the third position with two games lost. Hasharon will face Maccabi Rehovot (#13) at home in the next round. Hapoel Afula will play against Hap.Haifa (#6) and hope to win that game.
