Regular Season Round 8: Kouvot - Kauhajoki 87-95

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Kouvot (2-5) lost to fifth ranked Kauhajoen Karhu (4-3) in Kouvola 87-95 on Wednesday. Kouvot was trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Kauhajoen Karhu, which allowed them to win the game. American swingman Austin Hollins (195-91, college: Minnesota) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 9 rebounds. Bosnian guard Bojan Sarcevic (190-88) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) replied with 34 points (!!!) and the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) added 13 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Kouvot. Five Kauhajoen Karhu and four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Kouvot's coach Antti Hurri tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Kauhajoen Karhu moved-up to third place, which they share with Salon Vilpas and BC Nokia. Kouvot lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Kauhajoen Karhu will face Tampereen Pyrinto (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Kouvot will play against BC Nokia and hope to win that game.
