Regular Season Round 5: Gorizont II - BrGU 76-68

Gorizont II has registered their first victory this season after four consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat BrGU COR Victoria (0-4) 76-68 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 33-19 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Gorizont II forced 24 BrGU COR Victoria turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by BrGU COR Victoria helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Forward Daryna Bachkarova (182-0) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Lyubov Stepanova (165-99) chipped in 12 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Khrystina Batsanova (165-96) responded with 21 points and 5 rebounds and Liudmila Karynchuk (170-95) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Gorizont II and four BrGU COR Victoria players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. It was the only win of host team this round and in all other games visitors recorded victories. Gorizont II (1-4) left bottom position moving up to sixth place. It was BrGU COR Victoria's fourth loss in a row. They still close the standings with four games lost. Gorizont II are looking forward to face higher ranked Victoria (#5) in Grodno in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BrGU COR Victoria will play at home against Olimpia GrGAU and hopes to get finally their first victory.
