Very important is a home loss of second ranked Ogre/Kumho Tyre (4-2) against fifth ranked Jekabpils II (3-3) on Wednesday night. Host Ogre/Kumho Tyre was defeated by Jekabpils II in Ogre 83-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ogre/Kumho Tyre. Swingman Edijs Stiebrins (190-96) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Matiss Kolesinskis (190-99) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Jekabpils II players scored in double figures. Davids Atelbauers (180-99) responded with 25 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Janis Lasmanis (199-87) scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Jekabpils II moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Saldus. Loser Ogre/Kumho Tyre keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Buki/BJSS. Jekabpils II will meet at home higher ranked Livani (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ogre/Kumho Tyre will play against Valmiera/ORDO-2 and hope to secure a win.
