Regular Season Round 5: Crvena Zvezda - Montana 2003 66-69

A very interesting game took place in Beograd. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 9th ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda (1-3) to eighth ranked Bulgaria Montana 2003 (3-1) 69-66 on Wednesday evening. Crvena Zvezda was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Montana 2003 made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Crvena Zvezda turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Crvena Zvezda helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Charel Allen (181-86, college: Notre Dame) who scored 22 points and 9 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Leeza Burdgess (194-90, college: La Salle) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Point guard Aleksandra Katanic (172-97, agency: BeoBasket) produced 18 points and Snezana Bogicevic (177-97) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Defending Bulgaria champion moved-up to sixth place in B, which they share with Athlete Celje and Buducnost. Crvena Zvezda at the other side keeps the ninth position with three games lost. Montana 2003's next round opponent will be Athlete Celje (#7) on the road. Crvena Zvezda will play against Buducnost and hope to win that game.
