Regular Season Round 2: Beijing D. - Qingdao E. 129-126

A very close game took place in Beijing between Beijing Ducks and Qingdao Eagles. Beijing Ducks (1-1) got a very close home victory over Qingdao Eagles (1-1). Beijing Ducks managed to escape with a 3-point win 129-126 in the game for the eighth place. Beijing Ducks shot 65.7 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Beijing Ducks looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American guard Stephon Marbury (188-77, college: Georgia Tech) notched 36 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the effort and the former international forward Xiaochuan Zhai (205-93) supported him with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists by American guard Dominique Jones (193-88, college: S.Florida) did not help to save the game for Qingdao Eagles. Swingman Chengyu Zhang (193-89) added 26 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Beijing Ducks will meet at home Bayi Rockets (#14) in the next round where they are favorite. Qingdao Eagles will play against North Control (#19) in Beijing and hope to win that game.
