Regular Season Round 8: Sichuan - Shanghai 65-95

10th ranked Whale (2-6) was outscored at home by fifth ranked Shanghai Dahua (5-3) with the biggest margin this round 95-65 on Thursday night. It was a great shooting night for Shanghai Dahua especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.7 percentage. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Breanna Stewart (193-94, college: Connecticut) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 14 rebounds and the former international guard Binbin Shen (174-89) who added 22 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Shanghai Dahua players scored in double figures. American center Stefanie Dolson (196-92, college: Connecticut) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and guard Fangzhu Gong (170-91) scored 16 points and 5 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Dahua maintains fifth position with 5-3 record. Newly promoted Whale keeps the tenth place with six games lost. Shanghai Dahua will face bottom-ranked Shandong (#12) in Jinan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Whale will play on the road against the league's leader Henan in Jiyuan and hope to win that game.
