Regular Season Round 6: Lahti - HBA-Marsky 96-90
Date: November 3, 2016
Very predictable result when second ranked Lahti (5-2) won against at home 8th ranked HBA-Marsky (2-5) 96-90 on Thursday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-13. But HBA-Marsky won third quarter 32-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely HBA-Marsky outrebounded Lahti 46-32 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by HBA-Marsky's players. It was a good game for swingman Aleksi Alanen (194-91) who led his team to a victory with 25 points. American guard Rashad Smith (201-93, college: Tulsa) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Lahti players scored in double figures. Point guard Edon Maxhuni (183-98) replied with 36 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and center Hannes Polla (210-98) added 7 points and 21 rebounds in the effort for HBA-Marsky. Lahti maintains second position in Division with 5-2 record behind leader PuHu Juniorit. Loser HBA-Marsky dropped to the ninth place with five games lost. Lahti will face Jyvaskyla BA (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. HBA-Marsky will play against Forssan Koripojat and hope to win that game.
