Regular Season Round 8: Beijing - Shanxi 102-80

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Shanxi Rui Flame (6-2) against eighth ranked Beijing Great Wall (4-4) on Thursday night. Visiting Shanxi Rui Flame was crushed by Beijing Great Wall in Beijing 102-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Shanxi Rui Flame. Beijing Great Wall dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Shanxi Rui Flame's 42. Beijing Great Wall forced 19 Shanxi Rui Flame turnovers and outrebounded them 32-20 including 24 on the defensive glass. Beijing Great Wall players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Shanxi Rui Flame's players. The winners were led by American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 29 points and 11 rebounds and international forward Ting Shao (183-89) supported her with 13 points and 6 assists. Five Beijing Great Wall players scored in double figures. Even 26 points by American guard Jewell Loyd (178-93, college: Notre Dame) did not help to save the game for Shanxi Rui Flame. Tongtong Wu added 23 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Guangdong. Shanxi Rui Flame at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Shenyang and Bayi. Beijing Great Wall will play against Xinjiang (#8) in Urumqi in the next round. Shanxi Rui Flame will play at home against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#9) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
