Regular Season Round 6: Espoo Basket - Namika Lr 82-78
Date: November 4, 2016
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Espoo Basket (5-2) beat at home bottom-ranked Namika Lr (0-7) 82-78 on Friday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Namika Lr won third quarter 25-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espoo Basket dominated on the defensive end, holding Namika Lr to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a good game for American point guard Darian Cartharn (183-91, college: Mo.-St.Louis) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 4 steals. The other American import swingman Justice Graham (198-79, college: Glenville St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Espoo Basket players scored in double figures. Forward Karl Engelvuori (191-95) replied with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Semi Laine (180-97) added 18 points, 6 assists and 4 steals in the effort for Namika Lr. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Espoo Basket went down to third position (Division) due to points difference. Loser Namika Lr still closes the standings with seven games lost. Espoo Basket will face Korikouvot (#5) in Kouvola in the next round. Namika Lr will play at home against Karkkila (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
