Regular Season Round 13: Kumamoto V. - Kagoshima 86-75

Very expected game when 6th ranked Kagoshima (1-12) was defeated on the road by second ranked Kumamoto V. (11-2) 86-75. The game was mostly controlled by Kumamoto V.. Kagoshima was better in second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kagoshima 54-39 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Kumamoto V. brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Joel James (208-94, college: N.Carolina) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds. Power forward Ryota Nakanishi (199-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Kumamoto V. players scored in double figures. Canadian center Chad Posthumus (211-91, college: Morehead St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds and forward Ryuichiro Nakazono (190-78) added 12 points in the effort for Kagoshima. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Kumamoto V.. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having just one point less than leader Gunma. Kagoshima lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Kumamoto V.'s next round opponent will be again Kagoshima (#6) in Renova.
