Regular Season Round 7: Palencia - Castello 79-78

A very interesting game took place in Palencia. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 12th ranked Castello (2-4) to fifth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (5-2) 79-78 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Castello was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 25-16 third quarter run of Palencia Baloncesto. They outrebounded Castello 40-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) fired 15 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Marc Blanch (195-82) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Five Palencia Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) produced 18 points and 9 rebounds and guard Borja Arevalo (195-91) added 8 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid series of three victories in a row. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to third place, which they share with Breogan and Gipuzkoa GBC. Castello at the other side keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Palencia Baloncesto's next round opponent will be Gipuzkoa (#4) in San Sebastian. Castello will play at home against the league's second-placed Lleida Basquet (#2) and hope to win that game.
