Date: November 4, 2016
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Union Rennes and 10th ranked SAP Vaucluse had identical 4-4 record. This time Union Rennes used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Sorgues 91-76 on Friday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 91-76. It was a great shooting night for Union Rennes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Union Rennes looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. Swingman Joffrey Sclear (199-95) stepped up and scored 13 points and 9 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners and point guard Johan Rathieuville (178-85, agency: Comsport) chipped in 7 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. Four Union Rennes players scored in double figures. Union Rennes' coach Pascal Thibaud used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Lithuania forward Darius Tarvydas (200-91) with 14 points and American point guard Deremy Geiger (180-90, college: Idaho, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 14 points. Union Rennes (5-4) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser SAP Vaucluse dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. Union Rennes will face higher ranked Saint Vallier (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SAP Vaucluse will play against Orchesien BC (#17) and hope to win that game.
