Regular Season Round 11: Denso Iris - Toyota B SR 68-69

The most exciting game of round 11 in the WJBL took place in Kariya. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 3rd placed Denso Iris (7-2) to seventh ranked Toyota B SR (5-4) 69-68 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Denso Iris. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota B SR made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was power forward Sari Osabe (174-87) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Yui Kawahara (169-91) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Toyota B SR's coach Fumikazu Nakagawa used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks and the former international guard Momoko Inai (166-95) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Toyota B SR maintains seventh place with 5-4 record. Denso Iris at the other side keep the third position with two games lost. They share it with Chanson V-M and Fujitsu RW. Toyota B SR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again on the road against Toyota B SR in Aichi and are hoping to win this game.
