Regular Season Round 6: Lanus - Talleres RPB 65-53

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Talleres RPB (2-4) was defeated on the road by third ranked Lanus (5-2) 65-53 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Lanus. Talleres RPB managed to win third quarter 17-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Talleres RPB to just 6 points in second quarter. Lanus forced 22 Talleres RPB turnovers. Strangely Talleres RPB outrebounded Lanus 48-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. International power forward Agostina Burani (184-91) had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuba point guard Dairis Tornell (176-92) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Lanus' coach used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was Leidys Oquendo with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and Yuniesky Bouly Garzon produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 17 rebounds. Lanus have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Union Florida. Talleres RPB lost fourth consecutive game. Talleres RPB at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Lanus will meet at home bottom-ranked Libertad Sun. (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Talleres RPB will play against Obras in Buenos Aires and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
