Regular Season Round 5: Valga - Rapla 76-82

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Valga (3-2) against fourth ranked Rapla (3-1) on Saturday night. Host Valga was defeated by Rapla in a tough game in Valga 76-82. The guests were already 12 points ahead at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 23-13 last quarter charge of Valga cut the lead to 82-76 at the end of the game. Rapla players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Dutch center Thomas van der Mars (208-90, college: Portland) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Slovenia point guard Domen Bratoz (189-93, agency: Two Points) contributed with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Rapla players scored in double figures. Guard Sandis Silavs (195-88) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Ivars Rihards Zvigurs (198-95) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Valga. Valga's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Rapla moved-up to third place. Valga at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Rapla will play against bottom-ranked TLU/Kalev (#9) in Tallinn in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Valga will have a break next round.
