Very important is a home loss of third ranked Ryukyu GK (7-6) against fourth ranked Osaka Evessa (6-7) on Saturday night. Host Ryukyu GK was crushed by Osaka Evessa in Okinawa 96-57. The game without a history. Osaka Evessa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They held Ryukyu GK to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 52.0 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Ryukyu GK 50-27 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) stepped up and scored 30 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) chipped in 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side swingman Shuhei Kitagawa (185-85) responded with 16 points and American power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa moved-up to third place, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Chiba Jets. Loser Ryukyu GK keeps the third position with six games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR and Niigata Albirex. Osaka Evessa will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ryukyu GK will play again against Osaka Evessa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
