Regular Season Round 7: Azuqueca - Real Madrid II 89-73

There was a minor upset when 3rd placed Real Madrid II (5-2) lost on the road to fifth ranked Azuqueca (5-2) 89-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Azuqueca. Real Madrid II was better in fourth quarter 24-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for Venezuela forward Luis Valera (202-88, college: UTRGV, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Serbian power forward Branislav Tomic (205-80) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Azuqueca players scored in double figures. FYR Macedonia-Montenegrin forward Dino Radoncic (202-99) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Javier Salson (199-82, college: Bloomfield, agency: Duran International) added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Real Madrid II. Real Madrid II's coach Javier Juarez tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. The victory was the third consecutive win for Azuqueca. They moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with defeated Real Madrid II. Azuqueca will face higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (#3) in Santa Cruz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Real Madrid II will play at home against Gran Canaria B and hope to win that game.
