Regular Season Round 13: Yokohama BC - Toshiba BT 81-83

Fifth-ranked Yokohama BC (5-8) made lots of trouble for first ranked Toshiba Thunders (10-3). The visitors from Kanagawa managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Yokohama BC. The guests were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 27-19 run, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American-Bulgaria center Jason Washburn (210-90, college: Utah, agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 26 points and 5 rebounds and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) added 18 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Yokohama BC. Four Yokohama BC players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders maintains first place with 10-3 record. Yokohama BC at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Kyoto Hannar.. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Yokohama BC will play again at home against the league's leader Toshiba Thunders (#1) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
