Regular Season Round 12: Haneda Vickies - Mitsubishi K. 71-101

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (7-3) crushed 8th ranked Haneda Vickies (2-8) in Tokyo 101-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Haneda Vickies was better in fourth quarter 29-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. shot 23 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Haneda Vickies only scored six points from the stripe. Mitsubishi K. forced 24 Haneda Vickies turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Mitsubishi K. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for the former international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) who led her team to a victory with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. International center Risa Nishioka (184-97) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Nanoko Motohashi (164-93) replied with 17 points and 4 assists and forward Yuka Suginaka (176-87) added 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals in the effort for Haneda Vickies. Five Mitsubishi K. and four Haneda Vickies players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mitsubishi K. have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 7-3 record. Haneda Vickies lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with eight games lost. Mitsubishi K. will face Niigata R. (#11) in Tokyo in the next round where they are favorite. Haneda Vickies will play at home against Chanson V-M and hope to win that game.
