Regular Season Round 6: Leganes - Picken Claret 51-38

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Leganes (5-1) beat at home 9th ranked Picken Claret (2-3) 51-38 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leganes. Picken Claret was better in third quarter 10-5. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Picken Claret to just 7 points in first quarter. Leganes forced 28 Picken Claret turnovers. It was a good game for forward Paula Justel (186-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Christina Marinacci (185-91, college: USC) contributed with 8 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Center Carla Diaz Polo (185-90) replied with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Marta Rabassa added 4 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Picken Claret. Picken Claret's coach tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Leganes have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group B leader, which they share with Rivas Promete and Distrito Olimpico. Loser Picken Claret dropped to the eleventh place with three games lost. Leganes will face Antiguo Boscos (#5) in Zaragoza in the next round. Picken Claret will play at home against Olimpico 64 (#14) and hope to win that game.
