Regular Season Round 8: Gniezno - SMS PZKosz 73-75

A very interesting game took place in Gniezno. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Gniezno (4-4) to fourth ranked SMS PZKosz (5-1) 75-73 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Gniezno. SMS PZKosz forced 21 Gniezno turnovers. Strangely Gniezno outrebounded SMS PZKosz 40-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Piotr Powidel (191-98) who scored 22 points. Guard Michal Samsonowicz (188-98) chipped in 10 points and 5 assists. Point guard Daniel Kotwasinski (185-99) produced 12 points and 7 assists and power forward Marek Sobkowiak (200-86) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Gniezno players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. SMS PZKosz have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A. Gniezno at the other side dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. SMS PZKosz's next round opponent will be AZS PP (#11) in Poznan and are hoping to win another game.
