There was a surprise result when sixteenth ranked Piacenza (2-4) defeated at home higher ranked Reggio Emilia (2-4) 80-71 on Saturday. Piacenza made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for point guard Giacomo Sanguinetti (180-90, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. Giuliano Samoggia (200-83) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Piacenza's coach Furio Steffe used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Federico Pugi (206-85) replied with 13 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Gioacchino Chiappelli (195-91) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Reggio Emilia. Five Piacenza and four Reggio Emilia players scored in double figures. Piacenza moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with 13 other teams including defeated Reggio Emilia. Reggio Emilia lost third consecutive game. Piacenza will face higher ranked Volpino AltoSeb. (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
