We should mention about the upset which took place in Madrid, where 4th placed Valencia Basket (4-2) lost to fifteenth ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (2-5) in a road game 68-73. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Valencia Basket. The hosts were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 22-16 run, which allowed them to win the game. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Valencia Basket's 32. It was an exceptional evening for Latvia power forward Rolands Smits (207-95) who led the winners and scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Serbian Ivan Paunic (198-87, agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 14 points for the winning side. American forward Luke Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) came up with 6 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (199-84) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Valencia Basket in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Valencia Basket at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada's next round opponent will be CAI Zaragoza (#14) on the road. Valencia Basket will play against Baskonia (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
