Regular Season Round 8: Kouvot - Huima 70-56

No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Kouvottaret (5-3) defeated at home 6th ranked Aanekosken (3-5) 70-56 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 40-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Kouvottaret dominated on the defensive end, holding Aanekosken to just 7 points in fourth quarter. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Merit Management Group) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Faith Randolph (178, college: Virginia, agency: Merit Management Group) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and forward Dyana Pierre (185-93, college: S.Illinois, agency: Merit Management Group) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Newly promoted Kouvottaret maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. Loser Aanekosken keeps the sixth place with five games lost. Kouvottaret will face ViVe (#7) in Vimpeli in the next round. Aanekosken will play at home against Peli-Karhut and hope to win that game.
