Regular Season Round 6: Moncalieri - Omegna 61-73

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Omegna (3-3) beat on the road higher ranked Moncalieri (4-2) 73-61 on Saturday. They outrebounded Moncalieri 34-17 including a 26-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Marco Arrigoni (199-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Giovanni Gasparin (187-91, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Four Omegna players scored in double figures. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) replied with 13 points and 4 assists and swingman Leone Gioria (194-84) added 12 points and 4 steals in the effort for Moncalieri. Moncalieri's coach Lorenzo Pansa rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Omegna moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 14 other teams. Loser Moncalieri dropped to the second position with two games lost. Omegna will face Montecatiniterme (#8) at home in the next round. Moncalieri will play against Firenze Enic (#16) and hope to win that game.
