Regular Season Round 7: Seis do Nadal - Ponferrada CDP 70-87

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Ponferrada CDP (3-2) defeated bottom-ranked Seis do Nadal (0-5) in Vigo 87-70 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 49-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Ponferrada CDP dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Seis do Nadal's 38. Ponferrada CDP forced 23 Seis do Nadal turnovers. It was a very good performance for Haitian-American forward James Cambronne (201-91, college: St.Michael's) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Dominican guard Yohansy Minaya (185-91) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Cambronne is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Ponferrada CDP players scored in double figures. Forward Pablo Gonzalez (196-89) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Iago Gonzalez (190-93) added 4 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Seis do Nadal. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ponferrada CDP. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A-B, which they share with Rosalia and Betanzos. Seis do Nadal lost their fifth game in a row. Seis do Nadal at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with five games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face Rosalia (#6) in Santiago de Camp. in the next round. Seis do Nadal will play on the road against Calidus Gal.COB (#8) in Ourense and hopes to get finally their first victory.
