Regular Season Round 13: SeaHorses - Shiga L-Stars 82-72

There was no surprise in Kariya where 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars (2-11) were defeated by second ranked Aishin Sea Horses (9-4) 82-72 on Saturday. Shiga L-Stars were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Aishin Sea Horses made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game, while Shiga L-Stars only scored six points from the stripe. Shiga L-Stars were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) fired a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 24 points. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Yousuke Sugawara (187-83) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses keep a position of league leader, which they share with Nagoya DD and Sanen. Loser Shiga L-Stars keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again Shiga L-Stars (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
