Regular Season Round 9: Quimper - Vitre 70-53

The game between Top Four teams took place in Quimper. Second ranked host Quimper UJAP (7-2) defeated 3rd placed Vitre (6-3) 70-53. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vitre. It looked good early as Vitre took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Quimper UJAP had a 17-4 second period charge getting the lead and Vitre was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 53-70. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vitre to just 4 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Vitre 40-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Kevin Mondesir (204-91) nailed 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and Ukrainian forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) accounted for 11 points and 8 rebounds. Quimper UJAP's coach Laurent Foirest allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Guard Antoine Belkessa (186-88) came up with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Simon Cretaux (190-89) added 14 points respectively for Vitre in the defeat. Quimper UJAP maintains second place with 7-2 record having just two points less than leader Souffel. Vitre at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Quimper UJAP will play against Angers BC (#6) on the road in the next round. Vitre will play against Vendee Challans and hopes to get back on the winning track.
