Regular Season Round 7: Santos - Fuerza Regia 66-81

LNBP top team - Fuerza Regia (7-0) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Santos (2-5) in San Luis Potosi 81-66. Fuerza Regia had a 35-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for Puerto Rican point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 4 assists. Nigeria center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: BeoBasket) accounted for 15 points and 11 rebounds for the winning side. Five Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. American forward Donte Adams (196, college: Talladega) came up with 19 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward B.J. West (211-89, college: Jackson St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Santos in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fuerza Regia have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 7-0 record. Loser Santos dropped to the bottom position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Fuerza Regia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santos will play again against the league's leader Fuerza Regia (#1) and hope to secure a win.
