Regular Season Round 13: Sendai 89ers - Chiba Jets 71-75

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Sendai 89ers (6-7) against fourth ranked Chiba Jets (6-7) on Saturday night. Host Sendai 89ers were defeated by Chiba Jets in a tough game in Sendai 71-75. The guests were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 3-point deficit before their 22-15 run, which allowed them to win the game. Chiba Jets made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) nailed 35 points (!!!) for the winning side and American forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) accounted for 12 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Kaito Ishikawa (188-90) came up with 15 points and forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) added 14 points respectively for Sendai 89ers in the defeat. Sendai 89ers' coach Takeo Mabashi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chiba Jets moved-up to third place, which they share with Sendai 89ers and Osaka Evessa. Chiba Jets will have a break next round. Sendai 89ers will play again at home against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
