Regular Season Round 5: Bolzano - Milano 28-65
Date: November 5, 2016
Very predictable result when second ranked Milano (4-1) rolled over on the road 12th ranked Bolzano (1-4) 65-28 on Saturday. The game without a history. Milano led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 2 points in second quarter and to 12 points in second half. Milano held Bolzano to an opponent 20.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Milano forced 21 Bolzano turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Giulia Maffenini (175-92, agency: Two Points) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Latvia power forward Liga Vente (191-91, college: Eckerd) contributed with 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Croatia power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) answered with 7 points and 11 rebounds and guard Safy Fall (176-89) added 8 points in the effort for Bolzano. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Milano maintains second place in A2 with 4-1 record behind leader Sesto SG. Loser Bolzano keeps the twelfth position with four games lost. Milano will face Team Crema (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Bolzano will play against San Salvatore (#7) and hope to win that game.
