Regular Season Round 8: Gipuzkoa UPV - Gran Canaria 70-57

Bottom-ranked Gran Canaria is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to thirteenth ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (3-5) 70-57. The game was mostly controlled by Gipuzkoa UPV. Gran Canaria was better in second period 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gipuzkoa UPV made 24-of-29 charity shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Brazilian center Nadia Colhado (193-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Astou Traore (182-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who added 19 points and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Four Gipuzkoa UPV players scored in double figures. Gipuzkoa UPV's coach Aranzazu Muguruza allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Mali center Mariam Coulibaly (183-97) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri, agency: Gamble Sports Management) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Gipuzkoa UPV moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Gran Canaria at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Gipuzkoa UPV will play against Zamarat (#13) in Zamora in the next round where they are favorite. Gran Canaria will play at home against Mann Filter and hopes to get finally their first victory.
