Regular Season Round 5: Ferrara - Pordenone 70-40
Date: November 5, 2016
Very expected game when bottom-ranked Pordenone (0-4) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Ferrara (3-1) 70-40 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ferrara. Pordenone was better in third quarter 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Pordenone to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Ferrara forced 23 Pordenone turnovers. Forward Nene Diene (180-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points. American-Swedish forward Pernilla Hanson (181-90, college: Cal-Irvine, agency: Two Points) contributed with 9 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Sara Madera (186-0) answered with 9 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Elisa Pinzan (171-99) added 7 points in the effort for Pordenone. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferrara moved-up to fourth place in A2. Loser Pordenone still closes the standings with four games lost. Ferrara will face Viterbo (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Pordenone will play against Vicenza (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
